Crafting My Narrative

I’ll try my best to fit in the most interesting
aspects of my life within this section. First of all,
I was born in Quebec and grew up there.
The diversity, art and the filled-with-life Montreal
inspired me to pursue my passion for creating art,
more specifically; digital art.

From a young age I started using my creative ideas
and artistic vision to make my ideas come to life,
and I never stopped. Whether I’m designing for a
client, a friend, or myself, I’m always eager to create
a beautiful project and make it become the best
version that it can possibly be.

Since I was a child my design skills have trickled
into my admiration and love for music, and I’ve
been able to use my gifts In both art forms to
create projects that use both elements to make
a dope project. I’ve always felt like music and
design were best friends, so I like to use them
together.

I’ve always had a lot of things inside of my mind
That I had to express, but at times I would wonder
Which outlets I could use to my advantage to get
my ideas across. Sometimes I would have the ideas
in my mind, but I didn’t have the right words to
express myself. Other times I would have all of these
ideas, but The typical ways of expression didn’t
appeal to me.

There was one unique activity that I
Used to channel my inner expression, and it’s a bit
Of a funny story. I would go into the cabinets of
My family members and take out all of the pots
And pans. I’d lay them upside down and use wooden
Spoons to bang on them like drums.

When I started making digital edits on
my iPad when I was 7, that’s immediately when I found
out what my true way of expression was.

My creative process

My creative process in graphic & web design is similar to my creative process when it comes to creating music. I start with a blank canvas and start to write down whatever comes to mind at that moment. Whatever colors, emotions and images I think of, I write down. I equate feelings to colors so whatever ideas I come up with, the color choices naturally come to me. I made a comparison between my creative process in music and graphic design because it’s a process that takes several days for both. The ideas I have today may not be the ideas I have tomorrow, and the ideas I have a week from now may be better than the ideas I have now, so I like to be patient and give my mind time to work in the background so that I can come up with new ideas with time. Some of my best songs and designs took me weeks to complete simply because I gave myself time to come up with new intentions in my project. I don’t like to rush my projects. I rather come up with as many ideas as possible to create the best project that I can possibly make.

After my colors and direction for the project is decided, I take inspiration from my favorite artists as a way to steer me in the right direction for what I want to create. A lot of our ideas have already been done by other artists, so you can use their work as inspiration to set you on the right path. I’ll use elements from other artists and combine them to create a brand new, refreshing project that reflects my greatest strengths in my abilities. Once I feel like I’ve completed a project, I won’t look at it until a few days later. If I’m still feeling it, that’s a great sign. If I feel like I’m not feeling it anymore, there’s some changes that need to be done.

art direction

Because of my artistic eye, I’m able to come up with compelling and engaging directions for art  projects Whether it’s a design, a website or a video. It’s one of my greatest interests because it comes so easy to me. I can create a whole world surrounding the art project. I’m particularly intrigued with this area because it allows me to express my creative ideas. I don’t like being creatively restricted because I feel like it limits the potential of what a piece of art can be. Everytime I’m given the privilege of art direction, I try to give it my all and push the boundaries.

Photography & video

This area is one of my strongest interests because of how I’m able to capture angles and come up with stories by using the photos and videos taken. Since I was a child I’ve been making video edits on my phone and adding motion effects to photos. An element that comes into play when it comes to this area is music. I love music and it’s one of my biggest passions, and I’m able to mix music with photos and videos to come up with a unique piece of art.

Social media

I like to use my social media platform to promote my music and design, but most of all; who I am and what I stand for. Because I’m very expressive on social media, I like to reflect that through my art and content. Social media is a great tool to get your name out there and expand your reach so I like to use that to my advantage. Whether it’s promoting a new song, an event, or a promotion for my design company, I’m always incorporating design elements into everything I do. It grabs people’s attention and gets them interested.
